You’re only as old as you feel, or according to the old (pun intended) sexist joke, depending on the women you are with (well, “feeling”).
So, is this true, the first part, I mean. Well,yes, according to one study recently published by Markus Wettstein and colleagues from the German Centre of Gerontology. They showed that subjective age moderated the effects of perceived stress and changes in functional health.
So that is good news if you feel young, you probably are young — biologically.
Another group of scientists around Patricia Boyle at Rush University Medical Center have also come out with what they call a “cognitive clock” and see this as a better way to measure your age than the chronological clock. The chronological clock simply being the amount of years you have been on this planet.
