Sorry guys, this piece of research was solely focused on women but with some interesting results.
This research was focused around how women respond to stress differently with the so-called tend and befriend mechanism in contrast to famed fight or flight response. In times of stress women often turn to friends and also nurture their friendships over time.
This team of multidisciplinary researchers around Michelle Rodrigues and Si On Yoon at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology researched looked at how women of different ages communicate to friends and strangers of different ages and how their stress responses were to these communication scenarios.
The interesting results showed that all women tended to communicate better to their own age groups (in an object description task). The younger women (18–25) were particularly good at communicating with familiar partners, friends, than the older women (62–79). But the older women were better at communicating to unfamiliar…
